Senses Fail: This New Jersey five-piece has had their fair share of highs and lows over their 11 years. Through a stint of member changes the essence of Senses Fail has remained intact. With seven albums under their belt, including the latest titled Renacer, as well as commended performance slots at the coveted Taste of Chaos, Warped Tour and UK Slam Dunk Festival. This Aussie show will be a celebration of a band that through everything has managed to remain an integral part of their genre.

Thu, Aug 8th, The Standard

Sandy Evans Indian Project: An opportunity to gain an insight into a musical culture not often featured in the Australian conscious. Renowned Australian saxophonist and composer Sandy Evans will be gracing Sydney’s jazz-filled centre to share her fascination with Indian jazz. Collaborating with a pioneer of the genre in tabla player Bobby Singh, Evans will also bring her usual trio – bass player Brett Hirst and drummer Toby Hall. The concert is tipped to bring to light not only rehearsed beauties but some astounding improvisation. Pure talent.

Fri, Aug 9th, Sound Lounge

Avaberée & ILUKA: Brighton Up Bar will host a night of feminine charm with Brisbane trio Avaberée and Sydney-songstress ILUKA. After the underground success of their pop-nugget Lover of Mine, Avaberée are keeping the ball rolling with latest single Running Out. A track they describe as one that “tips its hat to Kim Wilde and Deborah Harry” but still maintains an alternative and modern sound. This time round the girls have chosen touring buddy ILUKA, whose beautiful sultry-sounds are showcased on the fantastic new EP Glory Days.

Sat, Aug 10th, Brighton Up Bar

Harold Brissenden Commemorative Concerto: With acclaimed conductor Dr. Nicholas Milton at the helm, this chance to see some of the greatest classical compositions should not be overlooked. Composers such as Mozart, Bach, Vivaldi and Beethoven will be honoured by the Suzuki Alumni Orchestra, with a mixture of five soloists and thirty young talented violinists pouring their heart and soul into the music. A cello choir will also be in the mix to provide an evening layered with different musical elements.

Sun, Aug 11th, The Concourse Chatswood

The Whitlams: For the first time in three years Tim Freedman, Jak Housden, Warwick Hornby and Terepai Richmond will be gracing the halls of the Sydney Opera House to bang out some gems from integral points of their 21-year history. Throughout six studio albums as well as two live compilations, the boys will be pairing their sound once again with the majestic Sydney Symphony to inject some surprises into the show. It will be a night of nostalgia for a band who started out as a Saturday acoustic act at Newtown’s Sandringham and became one of Australia’s most successful musical acts.

Wed, Aug 14th, Sydney Opera House (CD)
