THE HUSH NOW – MEMOS

SPOILER ALERT – This is not a ground breaking album.

It’s true there are no technical faults with this album, but that’s exactly what the problem is.

From the opening track Things Fall Down the album sounds incredibly dreary. The first song plods into the second, with the only break coming in the form of the opening notes of the third track, only to be shut down after 25 seconds. Where is the excitement?

The only beacon of distinct joy comes in the form of seventh track The Glow. It’s a techno-infused foot-tapper, where the vocals of singer Noel Kelly contrast effectively with the synthesised sound behind it. The eighth track Clouds is a similar dance-fest.

Alas it doesn’t last. The sludge-like nature of this album makes it utterly unsuccessful.(CD)
