ALICE IN WONDERLAND… CURIOUSER AND CURIOUSER

I can’t remember when it was that an outing to the theatre became such a serious affair. Perhaps it was around the time that an amateur theatre production started to mean long, complicated silences; meaningful glances; convoluted themes; and an uncomfortable audience.

Now we have seen the light. That light came in the form of a children’s production of Alice in Wonderland … Curiouser and Curiouser – staged by kids and for kids, with the help of Tilkin-Dilkin Studio (Imaducation Inc).

The simple joy of acting, and of watching the energy and excitement on and off stage was wonderful to witness.

The Tilkin-Dilkin Studio Project is a program of workshops intended to help children learn through their imagination, but the quality of the production offered in their latest show makes it clear that the organisation is much more than just that.

With fantastic costumes, great use of the stage, and (most importantly) a cast of children clearly filled with the confidence and enthusiasm that comes from working with professional directors, the show set a perfect example of why it’s never too early to instill a love of theatre in kids. (LZ)
