IN THE HOUSE
In The House catches completely by surprise and it only serves to contribute to the adoration of it.
A literature teacher, Germain, recognises the writing talent in one of his students, Claude. Claude writes about his experience in a classmate’s house, detailing the lives of this seemingly perfect nuclear family.
When Germain encourages Claude to develop his story and re-enter the house, they will embark on a series of events that will have repercussions much larger than the confines of Claude’s story and see imagination mix with reality.
The film is a dark, black comedy that explores desire and ambition. Director Francois Ozon’s treatment of an increasingly twisted narrative is precise and well-timed. See it! (ATS)
