ARAFAT IN THERAPY

Jeremie Bracka is a human rights lawyer by day, actor by night and now he brings his highly praised show Arafat In Therapy to NIDA for four shows.

“[Arafat In Therapy] is a one-man political comedy, a play that developed out of my professional experiences working as a human rights lawyer both in New York and Israel,” explains Bracka.

Described as thoughtful and intelligent by critics, Bracka uses his talent to expose some harsh realities and uses first-hand experiences to address perceptions around the current conflict.

“As well as satirising the Middle East peace process and putting Arafat and Shimon Peres, the Israeli President, into couples therapy it also puts me into therapy,” says Bracka.

However, “while the show is about dealing with political stuff, it is not actually political,” he continues.

“I’m interested in exploring different issues and themes and having characters make comment to tell things from their perspective and let the audiences make their own mind up.” (LL)
