BAR FLY: that’s me – with a previously declared predisposition (amongst other beverages) to tequila. So when a new bar – with 150 tequilas – the biggest tequila list in Sydney opens, I’m there. “With the largest and most amazing tequila selection in the country, combined with market fresh ingredients, our cocktails are not to be missed!” exclaimed restaurant manager, Kiehyon Yoo. Fresh sounds good. Oops, you reckon he meant fresh like flavours not fresh like flirty *wink*? Like me, the food is fresh too. Mejico staff make guacamole to order, right in front of you; they also grill corn, hand-make plantain chips and house-bake tostadas.  But back to the priority (drinks): I like the Mejico tequila cocktail house specialties – The Sweet Desire for the girls, Anejo Anticuado for the guys. My other must try tips are cocktail Activist, the South American and Spanish wines, and Mexican beers.

EL LOCO @ SLIP INN
111 Sussex Street, Sydney (02) 8295 9999 merivale.com.au/slipinn
GET READY AMIGOS! El Loco is on the move again – this time for the month of March. “El Loco at The House went gangbusters this summer, with Dan Hong creating over 2000 tacos a day throughout the month of January and we can only imagine the anticipation El Loco at Slip Inn will bring with the courtyard being transformed into a Mexican festival; guests can expect the award winning favourites of El Loco including the Jalapeño Martini, in a whole new setting,” Slip Inn Licensee Elise Reynolds shared with BAR FLY. The El Loco pop-up replaces the current Slip Inn menu and will serve up signature Mexicana fare and all time favourite Margaritas and slushies – seven days midday until late. If it’s anything like the crazy partying I got up to at The House it will be nuts. Bring it.
