Shohei Yamaki: The 23 year old acoustic guitar hero from Japan plays inspiring compositions that will set your heart soaring. Inspired by the likes of Chet Atkins and Michael Hedges the young prodigy was an unanimous judges’ choice at the Sapporo International Jazz Festival and has toured the world showcasing his abilities on the steel string. This show will be an exclusive Sydney appearance and one well worth getting along to.

Thu, Jan 10th, Blue Beat

Opiuo: The Melbourne based beat maker will be passing through to show off some of the sweetest aural treats available. The one man sonic assault is generated by drum machines and synths which he manipulates live so every moment of the show is unique and a beat junkie’s dream come true. The night will also feature Sydney duo Mark Pritchard and Steve Spacek a.k.a. Africa Hitech whose 2010 album 93 Million Miles received rave reviews across the globe.

Fri, Jan 11th, Oxford Art Factory

Chali 2na: The legendary Chali 2na from hip-hop group Jurassic 5 returns to Australia to share material from his solo record Fish Outta Water as well as music from J5, his stint with latin groovers Ozomatli and other collaborations. Chali 2na’s unmistakeable baritone makes him one of the most recognisable voices in hip-hop music and the man has been in the game for well over two decades making him no stranger to rocking audiences.

Fri, Jan 11th, Factory Theatre

Action Bronson: When fire-flame gourmet food chef Ariyan Arslani isn’t cooking up a storm in the kitchen he’s cooking up killer rhymes as notorious rapper Action Bronson. The witty New York rapper frequently raps about food in his songs but he’s made a name for himself for kicking it with the likes of Wu Tang Clan, Odd Future and Kool G Rap. He’ll be aided on the night by Stones Throw label honcho Peanut Butter Wolf and globetrotting local Jonti who just capped off 2012 by supporting Gotye in the US.

Sat, Jan 12th, Manning Bar

Animal Collective: Experimental psychedelic group Animal Collective are touring to promote their latest album Centipede Hz which is a potent continuation of their sprawling and genre defying style which incorporates elements of krautrock, R’n’B, horror soundtracks and more. It’s the group’s first album since 2009’s coveted release Merriweather Post Pavillion and witnessing their live recreation of that record will surely be a feat to behold.

Wed, Jan 16th, Enmore Theatre
