JAMES THOMSON – JAMES THOMSON

JAMES THOMSON – JAMES THOMSON

Releasing in the world of country/rock/folk is no mean feat these days, but with a sweet and slightly-lagging drawl James Thomson’s self titled album is thoughtful enough to demand your attention. Built on the laurels of a consort of guitars, harmonica, organ, piano, cello, lap-steel and the occasional twang of blues, Thomson doesn’t really push the limits of his genre, instead offering up something well constructed, a direct communication of his tales. Luy H’s distant, yet deep cello lines communicate a perfect sense of ache and longing in Rosa Goodnight, whilst the jaunty harmonica and pushing acoustic in Something Like a Fast Train establishes the country roots of the album.
