WALKING IN THE RAIN

WALKING IN THE RAIN

If you’ve been in Sydney the last few weeks you’ll have a thing or two to say about rain, I’m sure. The next two Saturdays could be exactly the chance you’ve been looking for, as Performance Space’s Walk series hits full stride with Walking in the Rain. Walk is a season of walks, strolls, marches and promenades happening in and around Sydney throughout 2011. Launched at the Sydney Festival in January this year with the well-received Super Night Shot, the walks reflect a myriad of locations, experiences and activities. Walking in the Rain continues the diverse program, bound only by its interest in the pedestrian, with a saunter along the Cooks River, one of Sydney’s most complex storm water management systems. Participants will be guided along the river’s banks and asked to contemplate the presumably teeming waterway, possibly accompanied by local artists. The walks represent a unique chance for both the artists involved in the project and participants to explore new sites around the city and new ways of engaging with those spaces. So why not get your feet wet, and find out what happens to all that water once its done drenching your stockings. Walking in the Rain leaves from Canterbury Train Station at 11am on Saturday June 11th and June 18th. The event is free but limited capacity, so be sure to book through the Performance Space website.
