Local lifesavers dominate Bondi ocean swims

Bondi lifesavers were dominant in the recent Beach Road Hotel Bondi Bluewater Challenge, which were the last races of the season’s series organised by Ocean Swims NSW.

Tom Miller scored a brilliant double, winning both the one kilometre and 2.1km races for elite male swimmers.

Miller’s win of the one-kilometre race was a repeat of last year, when he also won over the shorter distance before the longer race was cancelled due to dangerous surf conditions.

Dori Miller and Louise Stevenson made it a clean sweep for Bondi representatives in the elite races, winning respectively the women’s one-kilometre and 2.1km races.

Other top-three placings for Bondi Surf Bathers Life Saving Club members on the day were:

Lachie Hinds (first in men’s 13-19 years group), Tom Miller (first 20-24 years), Adam Nezval (second 40-44 years), Steve De Lorenzo (second 55-59 years), Louise Stevenson (first in women’s 30-34 years), Dori Miller and Louise Santos (first and second 40-44 years) of the one-kilometre races.

The event supported Cure Cancer Australia with a percentage of the entry fees donated to its Can Too charity.
