The time has come to dust off your dancing shoes and start moving those hips, as Cuban salsa sensations Los Van Van get set for a one night only appearance at the Sydney Opera House, playing their renowned fusion of Afro-Cuban rhythms with Latin jazz, salsa, rock, funk, disco, and hip-hop. The 16-piece timba band consists of a fluid line-up and has been one of Cuba’s most successful exports for forty years. The Sydney show promises to be a scorcher, with a rare appearance by the band’s founder ‘Saint Juan’ Formell, a veritable giant of popular music. Los Van Van have produced over 30 albums, and show no signs of slowing down, continuing to push musical boundaries under the direction of Saint Juan’s son Samuel Formell. Supported by Australian salsa super-group Latin Block Party, Los Van Van will have you shaking your booty and tapping your feet to their anthemic brand of Afro-Cuban beats.

Sun Aug 15, 7pm, Sydney Opera House Concert Hall, $49-110, 9250 7777,
