Doughboy Roll Out
Last week I enjoyed plenty of authentic thin crust pizza at the launch of Doughboy’s seventh store in Abbotsford. Rubbing shoulders with guests like Ian Thorpe, I was excited to taste some of their new pizzas. Best of all was the Carbonara which features a delicious thyme and garlic crème sauce that beats the heaviness of a big bowl of pasta hands down. This launch comes fast on the back of their sixth new store in Petersham.

Best Rack in Town
This week I’m gearing up for a Thursday night visit to Ruby L’otel for a 1kg rack of Baby Back Ribs grilled in special sauce for $19.90. The Rozelle hotel is owned by the talented Sumo Salad crew, James Miller and Luke Baylis. You’ll also find a Wagyu Burger and a 7-hour Lamb Sandwich on their affordable menu.

Easter Eating
If you’re looking for something stylish to do this Easter long weekend, have a high tea with an Easter twist at The Tea Room in the Queen Victoria Building. Expect Ronnefeldt teas in Royal Albert china and British three-tiered silver stands laden with finger sandwiches, pink coconut macaroons, hot cross buns and filled Easter eggs. You’ll pay $37/head for your morning or afternoon tea, with alcoholic beverages also available, and you can dine throughout the Easter long weekend.

Bountiful Buffets
If sumptuous seafood is a bigger lure, head to the Sofitel Sydney Wentworth on Easter Sunday for a brunch banquet at their signature Garden Court restaurant. The $95/head price (children $40/head) includes an Easter-themed dessert buffet with chocolate eggs and bunnies. New Executive Chef, German-born Andreas Donnerbauer, has also launched a Wentworth Cheese Buffet in consultation with cheese expert Will Studd. Expect to find 14 of the world’s best cheeses on offer at any one time.

Cut-Price Organics
About Life have dramatically reduced the price of 100 organic pantry staples. They’re keen to make eating organically affordable for all, and you might even find that some prices beat the big supermarkets. Look for butter, bread, pasta, cereals, spreads and snacks marked with red tags. You can also help the planet by looking for clearly marked local products too. I picked up half a dozen locally produced free-range eggs for $3.90, and eased my hunger with a great Chicken Quesadilla in their Rozelle cafe.
