CABARET: FRISKY & MANNISH

CABARET: FRISKY & MANNISH

Feeling miffed that Melbourne is getting all the best comedy again this year? Fear not, comedy duo Frisky and Mannish are coming to Sydney.  Their cabaret double act, The School of Pop, satirises 50 years of pop songs into a one hour show of musical madness. Staying true to the cabaret genre, their songs are paired with big hair, big makeup, eccentric costumes and great dancing – a perfect show for the Mardi Gras season. The duo are musical mash-up artists. They blend the Ting Tings with Beethoven and everyone from Lily Allen to TLC is included in the one hour musical mix. Performing to rave reviews at the Edinburgh Fringe festival, one critic wrote; “If you don’t enjoy Frisky & Mannish, you have no soul.” Frisky, the flamboyant and bossy schoolteacher is Laura Corcoran. This vampish caberet singer has performance in her genes.  Her grandmother was one of the famous tiller girls. Mannish, her camp co-educator, is the strong voiced pianist Matthew Jones. The 24 year old pair conceived Frisky and Mannish two years and the rest is (musical) history.
