505 JAZZ

505 JAZZ

For those of you already nestled in the dulcet folds of jazz’s artist-run warehouse institution 505 in its current location, the news of its recent move will come as no surprise. After six successful years of underground sound, 505 is ready to don its debutante whites and step into the spotlight. The new venue on Cleveland St may not have the longneck-in-a-paper-bag grunge factor of the Hibernian House, but it does hold the promise of real jazz six nights a week. Joining forces with 505 are Jazzgroove Tuesday nights and Café Carnivale on Thursdays, making triply sure 505 mark II packs the punch we’ve all come to expect. Coming up over the next week are such heavyweights as Lolo Lavina (Feb 11), Lily Dior (Feb 12), Phil Slater Quartet (Feb 13), Julien Wilson(Feb 15), the Adam Pach Quartet and Girth (Feb 16), The Vampires (Feb 17), and Serenata (Feb 18) to name a few. Now that’s legit.

280 Cleveland St, Surry Hills, $10, venue505@mac.com or jazzgroove.com
