Kennovich vs Kekovich in BBQ battle

According to comedian Simon Kennovich (also known as Simon Kennedy) lamb on Australia Day is un-Australian, a claim to be proved on Bondi Beach tomorrow.

Fronting a new campaign for South African company Fry’s Vegetarian, Kennovich lays down the gauntlet to Sam Kekovich who, in the Meat and Livestock Australia campaign, calls on Australians to eat lamb on Australia day.

In the YouTube ad, Kennovich cites vegetarianism will help reduce climate change by reducing the amount of methane emitted by livestock.

“I’ll tell you the answer to global warming – less meat,” says Kennovich.

The campaign has sparked interest all over the web with discussions starting on websites such as Mumbrella and A Climate for Change.

The crux of the campaign is a vegetarian BBQ to be held on Australia Day at Bondi Beach Lifesaving Club. A gold coin donation will receive a Fry’s faux meat burger with all proceeds going to the club.
