THEATRE: AND AT THAT MOMENT EVERYTHING CHANGED

THEATRE: AND AT THAT MOMENT EVERYTHING CHANGED

Boy meets girl. Boy falls in love with girl. And they all live happily ever after, right? In Writer/Director Sarah Doyle’s (Forest Blue, Megan Mostyn-Brown and Shiny White Diamonds) tale of twisted love, the audience will see a potential match made in heaven turn many shapes of pear. “The play is a love story told over the span of 12 years and four Olympic Games. Our couple, Darla and Dave, begin as best mates and do the controversial leap to lovers. The audience sees the progression and regression of their passion as they struggle to meet half way,” says Doyle. Unlike most syrupy love stories, Doyle paints us a picture of love minus the air-brushing. Sometimes love doesn’t conquer all, but living in a relationship that has dwindled into a series of compromises may be the bigger tragedy. Besides a dose of reality check, I ask Sarah what else the audience can expect in her latest offering. “Shit-hot actors, a well-wicked design, a laugh, a cry, and a little reflection on the emotional experience of being human,” says Doyle. What? No fumbling female in stupidly high heels desperately seeking love? Yes please, Miss Doyle.
