The Sydney Underground Film Festival, to be held from September 10 to 13 at The Factory Theatre, Marrickville, will screen more than 120 quality Australian and international films.

Opening night features The Yes Men Fix the World, the new film by anti-capitalist pranksters Mike Bonanno and Andy Bichlbaum, as well as two great shorts, My Name is Pochsy and Cattle Call, and a one-off performance from Kamahl.

The themed program encompasses comedy, animated shorts, experimental films, women’s films, documentaries and recycled cinema.

Feature films include Pink Flamingos, American Swing, Porn Dogs, Chevolution, It came from Kuchar and Blue Gold: World Water Wars.

The festival, set up in 2007, has provided a platform for emerging and established filmmakers worldwide and nurtured a growing alternative film culture in Sydney. This year its director Stefan Popescu was named as one of Sydney’s top 100 ‘creative catalysts’.
