State of Play

When the political and journalistic fields are filled with equal corruption and integrity, there are few people to trust. And when a strong willed Congressman (Affleck), fighting against the privatisation of military services to defence companies, has his personal life revealed to the public, the one individual he can turn to is a friend in the media (Crowe). Along with a team of his peers (McAdams and Mirren), everyone must put aside their loyalties, responsibilities and ambitions to discern the truth from the lies. What they uncover is a maniacal plot of money, mind games and murder. Starring Russel Crowe, Ben Affleck, Rachel McAdams, Helen Mirren and Robin Wright Penn, this adaptation of the original TV series was artfully well done.
