Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark

Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark

This is just one of many juvenile based horror flicks which will hit multiplex cinemas in coming months after the phenomenal success of the IT franchise based on the 1986 novel by Stephen King.

Inspired by the best-selling series of books, the horror quickly escalates on Halloween night in 1968 when a group of teenagers breaks into an alleged haunted house. They bring home a book which was written by a young girl named Sarah who committed suicide in 1898.

This unleashes her evil spirit which writes stories in the book resulting in the disappearance of these teenagers under strange circumstances.

Genuinely spine-chilling from the opening scene this is a horror film which boasts a likable and very capable cast of juvenile performers. Atmospheric without the cheesiness of similar films in the genre, scare tactics such as creaky floorboards and strange sounds in the dark are utilised. An assortment of jump-scare moments also intensify the fear factor and ensure that audiences don’t get too comfortable in their seats.

Guillermo del Toro, who has been the driving force behind many horror films including Mama and The Orphanage, is credited as the producer of this truly unsettling and macabre flick where a sequel may possibly transpire. (MMo)
