You’ll get an icy reception here, and you’ll love it! Forget the image of frozen faced (pun intended) skaters with legs awkwardly splayed – this is where gold medal hopefuls come to perfect their spins, jumps and triple axels. It operates as a training school for figure skating, ice hockey, speed skating and synchronised skating, and offers expert tuition from beginner level right through to Olympic contender. But it’s not just for the pros. You can come and hire blades and glide around at your own pace on an Olympic sized rink. They have several public sessions during the week plus you can arrange private parties and group sessions. For a real treat, put on some sequins and come and boogie on ice at the Friday night discos. There’s free public parking, a heated canteen, lockers, and seating around the rink in case you just want to spectate. It’s really, really cool!
