Winchester

Supernatural horror film Winchester is an Australian/American co-production directed by the Spierig Brothers, who wrote the screenplay alongside Tom Vaughn. The film stars Aussie Jason Clarke, with Helen Mirren and Sarah Snook.

Filmed in Melbourne and inspired by the true events that followed, firearm heiress Sarah Winchester (Mirren) believes her mansion is haunted by souls that died at the hand of the Winchester rifle. Dr Eric Price (Clarke) joins the heiress at the San Jose mansion for a mental health assessment, where he is forced to help uncover the mysteries of the ever-renovating house.

A quite unique horror story in real life but a dull storyline in the movie, that if anything seemed rushed. The house looked great and the special effects weren’t too clunky. There were a couple of successful jump scares but overall a watch one time only film.
