Newtown has long been recognised as an area rich in cultural diversity. Through this an extraordinary tapestry of creativity has been cultivated, expressed over a multitude of different artistic platforms.

Over the course of the next three weeks one of Newtown’s most prestigious venues The Leadbelly, formerly known as the Vanguard, will be hosting a series of special musical events to celebrate the weirdness of Newtown’s creativity.

Alongside an art display curated by The Ladies Network will be a host of musical performances. Some of the performers on the bill include Mick Thomas, The Radiators, Green Mohair Suits and Tasha Coates.

The events don’t stop at simply music though guests can also enjoy a wonderful meal prepared by the in-house chefs or enjoy an author talk by John Safran on Jun 6.

Coming up this week Sydneysiders can catch Busby Marou, Pheno, Dexter Moore, Jim Mitchells and Frank Sultana all performing live.

These events will be a perfect sampling platter of Newtown-centric events which the team at Leadbelly will continue to bring to the suburb throughout the year.

Until Jun 18, Various performance times. Leadbelly, 42 King St, Newtown. Tickets & Info: www.theleadbelly.com.au
