Paparazzi Dogman In Paddington

Gillie and Marc have teamed up with Sydney’s most famous design store, OPUS to turn Paddington’s Oxford Street into Australia’s leading public art precinct.
Paddington has changed a lot over the years. No one knows this more than gift and homeware store, OPUS, who first opened its doors in the late sixties. Over the years there has been much debate about how to re-establish Oxford Street back to its heyday. “The talk fest has gone nowhere,” says Eastern-suburbs local Marc Schattner, “It’s time for action”. So OPUS and the artists installed one of their famous giant bronze Paparazzi Dogman sculptures outside the OPUS store.
“It’s already attracted crowds and photos like never before,” says OPUS owner, Chris Tourgelis. Even though the inner-city suburb has its fair share of private art galleries alongside the iconic Paddington Markets and College of Fine Arts, the artists felt it could do with a much-needed boost of interactive and accessible fun. “People love taking their photo with the Pap Dog. It makes them feel like a celeb,” explains Gillie.
The other Paparazzi Dogmen are currently on exhibition in New York City where they’re receiving huge claim and attention.
“This is just the beginning of this enormous public transformation,” Marc continues. “We want to contact local and international public artists to make Oxford Street the most famous art street in the world.”
