Bruce Glen’s Magical Soirées

Bruce Glen’s Magical Soirées

The Magical Soirée, held each Friday at approximately 7:33pm at the Royal Automobile Club of Australia, is an evening of charm, mystery and stylish entertainment. Within the sandstone walls of this historic building, Bruce Glen – the Gentleman Magician – enthrals an intimate audience with magic and storytelling.

Eloquent, impeccably dressed and affable, Glen is beguiling as he recounts historic tales of ghosts, magicians and con artists, interspersing the anecdotes with some classic legerdemain. While he doesn’t saw anyone in half (apparently he only knows how to do the first part of that trick), he does manage to elicit gasps from the audience with some stunning illusions involving string, cards, handkerchiefs, cup and ball, and mind reading.

Champagne and delicious canapés – including shot-sized cups of gazpacho soup – are served on arrival.  Seats for each performance are limited to seventy and are arranged in one corner of a very large room, imitating the setting of a private chamber performance. With a strict dress code and the rich, 1930’s decor, patrons will be immersed in an elegant, nostalgic evening of surprise, humour and lingering bewilderment. (RB)

Every Friday, approx. 7:33pm. The Royal Automobile Club of Australia, 89 Macquarie Street, Sydney. $75 (inc champagne & canapes). Tickets & info: www.gentlemanmagician.com.au or 1300 033 599
