Live And Originals Nights

Live And Originals Nights

Originally formed as a musicians collective looking to rejuvenate the live music scene the Live and Originals Nights have since grown and evolved into something much more grand, far reaching and comprehensive during its almost ten year existence.

From it’s inception the primary concept and goal of the night has been to provide a platform for up and coming independent musicians to perform before a live audience, promote themselves and make connections with fans and other artists. Recently Kerri Ellis, a self professed music lover who’s passion drove her to do whatever she could to help the industry, has taken over the organisational responsibilities of the nights.

Since taking the reigns Kerri has looked to improve and expand the night public feedback was extremely positive which “really encouraged me not to give up as this was something people really wanted” she said.

This insight further inspired Kerri to expand the night by adding a second venue and night. “When we were in Bondi we had people travelling from everywhere to perform and watch. So we thought if we could have it in more locations we could reach more people and give even more people opportunities.”

Aside from the opportunities these nights provide to perform to a live audience Kerri and her partner in the nights Catherine are also more than happy to help with mentoring and coaching for young artists because “we don’t just want them to come play we want to help them with whatever help they need to succeed” Kerri said.

The plan when moving across to Mr Falcons was for the night to be every second Tuesday  however the owner has requested that moving forward the Live and Originals concept continues as a weekly event which allows Kerri and her team to provide even more opportunities. Concurrently the second night will be running on the first Monday of each month at Foundry 616.

“We love being able to provide this platform because I get to bring so much joy into peoples lives. Every night is such a joy because there is such a deep feeling of gratitude from the musicians and crowds.”

Hearing Kerri speak so enthusiastically about the nights is infectious and shows that there is a clear passion behind the movement that is bound to ensure the nights are a continued success.
