NIGHT OWLS KID’S FILM FESTIVAL

When it comes to the Night Owls Kid’s Film Festival audiences can expect family-friendly entertainment from sci-fi to animation. Films screen every evening starting at 6.30pm with a selection from the children’s short film festival Little Big Shots.

Following at 6.45pm are all-time favourites such as Mrs. Doubtfire, coming-of-age drama Stand By Me and The Lion King, as well as more recent hits like Disney’s Frozen.

From Friday to Sunday there are three films, with ‘bigger kids’ catered for from 8.30pm.

The first weekend features sci-fi classics Close Encounters of the Third KindThe Fifth Element and The Matrix. The second weekend takes audiences back to 50s golden era films like Marilyn Monroe comedy Some Like It Hot, Rebel Without A Cause and The African Queen.

Variety is the theme for week three with Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy and Baz Luhrman’s Strictly Ballroom.

Get there early to grab a space but also to enjoy the kid-friendly live entertainment from 5.30pm. There are plenty of food options nearby. Try a pad thai or a juicy steak, then cool-off with a traditional Italian gelato. (MMu)
