FULLY COMMITTED

Director Alexander Butt and brilliant comic actor Nick Curnow deliver the hysterical one-man play Fully Committed. The production follows a day in the life of Sam Peliczowski, an out of work actor working in the reservations department of a pretentious fictional New York restaurant.

Reminiscent of the parody of upper-class dining culture in American Psycho, the play positions a dualism of low and high stakes. Sam’s crisis over the direction of his life is constantly and rudely interrupted by the overly particular demands of both customers and other staff.

Showing at Old Fitzroy theatre, the intimacy of the venue works to the advantage of a piece that guides the audience into one man’s personal hell.

A trained vocal coach, Curnow skilfully switches from character to character, his hilarious impersonations sustained through dark wit. He has the audience in stitches. (CK)
