Kakawa’s stand out point is blending in to let chocolate do the talking. Their interior on Clarence St is white and simple while the only busy signs at Darlinghurst are apprentices hard at work in the open kitchen. We love their motto ‘Fresh is Best’ as chocolates are made gluten-free and zero preservatives. Things to try are sea salt caramel in all its available forms while chocolate ‘CDs’ look like promising gifts for friends. But don’t take our word for it ask their chefs; it’s a neat little policy that chefs run the retail front too to better assist customers. (SL)
