A COLE PORTER CELEBRATION

A COLE PORTER CELEBRATION

The splendor of a bygone era will be brought to life over two performances of Cole Porter classics at the Sydney Opera House.

“The fact that these shows exist today proves the longevity of Cole’s music and the skill of his writing,” says Rob Mallet, who recently toured nationally as Buck in Hot Shoe Shuffle.

“I appreciate the wit, the innuendo and the double-entendre of his lyrics. He was a wealthy man who really poked fun at the upper-class of the time,” he continues.

Mallet, along with fellow emerging artists Kerrie Anne Greenland, Caleb Vines and Julie Goodwin, will perform A Cole Porter Celebration accompanied by the Sydney Philharmonia Festival Chorus and Orchestra.

The program will include Porter standards such as Night and Day, Anything Goes, Begin the Beguine and I Get a Kick Out of You.

Mallet says, “I’ve never had the privilege of singing with a chorus before. It’s a thrill for me especially in the Opera House. Every singer in Australia wants to sing in the Sydney Opera House. It’s an absolute privilege.” (PG)
