THE LONE RANGER
The Lone Ranger and Tonto gallop out of the comic book pages as the odd couple of the Wild West in in this ‘shoot-em-up’.
Idealistic lawman, John Reid (Armie Hammer) has a resurrection to become the reluctant masked avenger. Wearing a white hat and riding a white horse – he must be the good guy. At his side is the quirky Tonto (Johnny Depp), who saves him and ultimately the film with deadpan one-liners. Black-hatted baddies are too evil for words and the real-time violence plus body count means this is no film for the kiddies. What is Disney doing?
Overly long but with stunning locations (not to mention budget) and the best train chase in recent memory. (GW)
