SLIDE CABARET FESTIVAL

SLIDE CABARET FESTIVAL

Sydney can be a quirky place at times. We put on epic world-class spectacles with the best, but all too often we miss out on the smaller, special occasions. “All of Australia’s major cities have great Cabaret festivals, but this is only the second year that Sydney has hosted Slide,” says Slide Creative Director and performer, Catherine Alcorn, “which is surprising given the amazing, world-class performers we are able to attract.”

The Slide Cabaret Festival, she says, is “like a Broadway show. We’ve organised it so that performers in the big musicals, when they have a night off, come and perform in Slide.”

“I love going to see big stadium shows, but when you come to our shows it’s much more intimate. You get to see the performer sweat and they tell stories in-between songs. It’s just really a great place to hear these amazing performers.”

“Saturday, June 29 is a cabaret tribute to Britney Spears,” says Alcorn. “Christie Whelan Browne will be performing Britney’s songs and there is a four-course gustation cooked by our chef, Aymeric Saint-Lannes; even the food is a tribute to Britney.” (LC)
