DALL’ITALIA ALL’AUSTRALIA (FROM ITALY TO AUSTRALIA)

Hopes, dreams, aspiration, a new start, escape and freedom; bringing to life the voyages in the days of yore is Dall’Italia All’Australia (From Italy to Australia), a timeless, classic and historic silent film from 1924, that narrates the journey of the Regina d’Italia (Queen of Italy) – a ship carrying migrants to Australia.

Its Director Angelo Drovetti lived and breathed this journey, carrying a movie camera on-board! The result is an intriguing look at the seven-week long journey from Genoa to Australia, laden with the old-school charm of black-and-white imagery, and panoramic views of the journey that housed people belonging to different countries, cultures and backgrounds.

As a bonus, screening will accompany performances by the Sydney Italian Women’s Choir and Italian folk music by I Viaggiatori. Be sure to catch this rare and exclusive piece of history! (JR)
