Fear Factory: Industrial metal gods and oft-frequenters of Australian shores – Fear Factory– return with a brand new album of premeditated carnage: The Industrialist. Inspired by Ministry and a precursor to groups such as Disturbed, Coal Chamber and Static-X, the band has been together since 1989, releasing eight studio albums, touring global festivals and have received the unholy honour of having Black Sabbath drummer Bill Ward state that he wishes he could play in the band. The Cactus Channel: This Melbourne act are touring to promote their debut LP Haptics; an album weighed down by heavy uncut funk and boogaloo inspired by acts such as The Bamboos and James Brown. Stu Hunter: As part of the 2012 Sydney Fringe Festival, composer and pianist Stu Hunter was commissioned by the Art Gallery of NSW to compose a live score to accompany Walter Ruttman’s 1927 film Berlin. Hunter has also assembled a cast of Sydney’s most exciting players to accompany him and the film that documents the energy and emotions surrounding daily Berlin life. Fri Sep 28, 505

Afro Moses: Sydney-based, Ghanaian import Afro Moses and his 13 piece band will be performing at the Basement to launch his new album I Want 2 B Happy and to honour his spiritual mother Adjoa Biriwah. The charismatic Afro-beat performer has formed a band comprised of members from such diverse backgrounds that it reinforces Moses’ message of unity, as well as packing a serious music punch. Matt Walker: Walker’s been the man in the shadows for a number of Australian performers over the years such as Nick Cave and Tex Perkins but the prolific guitarist is now taking some time out to perform material from his latest solo effort Echoes Of Dawn; a rough and tumble journey through country, swamp blues and the odd ballad. Francisca Valenzuela: Classically-trained pianist, singer, poet and author Valenzuela has been making waves throughout Latin America as a talented young pop-artist. Her sublime piano skills have been utilised to produce punchy and exciting pop music that has garnered her much global admiration and comparisons to Fiona Apple, Tori Amos and Julieta Venegas.
