After smashing Aussie charts and earning big reviews for the last album, the group tirelessly toured Europe and America with The Fratellis, Silverchair and Modest Mouse, and the upcoming tour is Dappled Cities’ first Australian headline tour since the Zounds era, so this show is shaping up to be a big one. Thurs Oct 4, The Metro

Arrebato Ensemble: The instrumental group led by flamenco guitarist Greg Alfonzetti blends flamenco, jazz and a whole host of other world music styles to fashion immense musical journeys. The groups’ 2011 release Absolución was received with rave reviews and their exceptional live shows feature, alongside  Alfonzetti, Damien de Boos Smith on cello, Stuart Henderson on drums, Dave Ellis on double bass and Andrew Poniris on sax. Inti Illimani Historico: Formed in 1967 by a group of Chilean university students, the band was exiled for years in Europe after being unable to return home from a tour there that coincided with Augusto Pinochet’s bloody military coup. Sun Oct 7, Enmore Theatre

Bill Summers & James Morrison: Renowned New Orleans percussionist Bill Summers, who over the years has performed and recorded with the likes of Herbie Hancock & The Headhunters, Bobby Womack, Sonny Rollins and so many more, will be teaming up with Australian jazz great James Morrison for a show at the Basement. In what will be Summers’ first headline tour of Australia in over 30 years the night will be an excellent opportunity to enjoy some seriously high-end music. Sun Oct 7, The Basement

Dereb The Ambassador: Dereb Desalegn is a bit of a cult hero in Addis Ababa, Ethiopa where he was born and raised. The singer has managed to move countless audiences back home and abroad with his amazing vocal ability and now that he’s settled here in Australia, he’s moving local audiences backed by a slick seven piece band comprised of some of Sydney’s hottest young musicians. Their show, a blend of traditional Ethiopian folk, Afro rhythms and funk, is also one of the most energetic going around and you can enjoy it every Wednesday evening in October at the Mac.
