Image: Even with some insider tips from host Michael Johnson, Wednesday night’s Foodie Trivia is tough. If you think you know your onions, you might want to brush up on who’s cooking them and where. This is a game for serious Sydney foodies. We called ourselves the Bondi Bovines (food related names being mandatory) and we were getting fried by the Croque Madames.

Even with some insider tips from host Michael Johnson, Wednesday night’s Foodie Trivia is tough. If you think you know your onions, you might want to brush up on who’s cooking them and where. This is a game for serious Sydney foodies. We called ourselves the Bondi Bovines (food related names being mandatory) and we were getting fried by the Croque Madames. I’m sure the house sparkling Tyrrell’s Premium Brut ($6.50/glass) wasn’t helping our cause, but it was helping our creativity during the picture round. Note: the Penfold’s sterling silver wine opener is not a turkey baster. So the Bovines didn’t do so well, but we won with food choices. Wednesday nights boast cheap pasta and the Angel Hair Prawn ($12) with white wine sauce, chilli and cherry tomatoes is a knockout. Pizzas are also top class – try the Bianco ($20) with white anchovies, olives, chilli and goats’ curd. Its salty, cheesy goodness was the envy of the rival teams, as was our Cheese Board ($20) of three cheeses with lavosh, apple and grapes. There’s also a wine tasting game, and it wouldn’t be foodie trivia without a taste test – just like a Masterchef elimination round. And although we didn’t win, we spared the audience our tears.
