Ahhh whisky. Whether it’s smoky, sweet or even spicy, The Baxter Inn will cater to all palates; and if not, the bartenders are a chatty good looking bunch.  It’s an underground tavern that only the elite would have been invited to drink at during the prohibition, a haven to all whisky lovers and virgins alike. With an endless supply of pretzels on every bar top, the sweet sounds of jazz and blues echoing from wall to wall, this little whisky den is never dull. Banter with the bartenders about the hundreds of dark spirits that wallpaper the back bar or simply sit back and soak up what is Sydney’s own little piece of the 1920s. Just try and arrive early as doors close at 1am and unfortunately, The Baxter Inn will always leave you wanting more (but do not worry, they’re open six nights a week!). (Catherine Williams)
