Gertrude and Alice, named after writers and life-partners, Gertrude Stein and Alice B Toklas, is much more than a bookshop café. It’s escapism with home made lentil stew.  Wallpapered with tattered books, fading manuscripts and fresh-faced optimistic new releases, the café is furnished with small stepladders, hearty wooden tables and enough cushions for all.
