PORK STILETTO

PORK STILETTO

The newest offering from Sydney writing team Allsopp & Henderson is a whip smart, bent, very funny cracker of show that examines the taboo subject of fetishes.

The Pork Stiletto – a term the cops use to describe “anything that is weird or f**ked” is a cornucopia of sexual tastes and morays set in the slick style of a Hitchcockian noir mystery.

Under Iain Sinclair’s direction the production is realised to its full high octane potential. The cast of four are impressive as they shift gears effortlessly for each character they embody.

Too often “new Australian work” is disappointing, either being half-baked or overly ambitious. Pork Stiletto is neither of those. This is fresh writing that is funny, dark, sad and at times really creepy. And with lines like, “I’m attracted to men with children’s haircuts,” how can you possibly go wrong?

Until Aug 11, The Old Fitzroy Theatre, 129 Dowling Street, Woolloomooloo, $21-33, 1300 241 167, rocksurfers.org.au
