DEATH OF A SALESMAN

DEATH OF A SALESMAN

In a world where the GFC, the digital age and e-commerce are the hot-button topics, does a play written in 1949 about a door-to-door salesman really stack-up? According to cast member Luke Mullins Death of a Salesman – like that other Arthur Miller classic The Crucible – is more relevant now than ever. Mullins says, “I think I had undervalued appreciation of the play. I always knew it was a great work, but working on it has really exposed just how incredible and relevant the piece is.” And given the play is a direct response to the American Dream and capitalism, if Miller were alive today to see the Occupy Wall Street movement which has swept the globe he would probably agree.

Simon Stone’s production has a stellar cast lead by one of Australia’s most respected actors, Colin Friels, who stars as Willy Loman.

Stone’s Death of a Salesman promises to be a fresh and contemporary portrayal of this classic play while remaining true to the intentions of the script.
