Glebe set to ignite city

Glebe will be Sydney’s cultural hub come Sunday with the return of the Glebe St Fair. The annual fair, taking place will feature live music, comedy, dancing and 200 different stalls flooding the centre of Glebe Point Rd.
“Our main stage location has also changed and the focus will be at the Parramatta Road end of the street with live music from 11 am till 7 pm” Ian McColm said, entertainment manager of the event. “There is a real mix of performances from world music, comedy, rockabilly, surf and rhythmic beats from west Africa to fit in with this years theme of the beat.”
As well as the stalls, the day will include alfresco dining, live entertainment from renowned street performers ‘The Great Dave and Strings of Fire’, latin dancing, urban street dancing and Brazillian Capoeira.
“We are also focusing on families with young children this year with a special kids stage in the grounds of the Glebe Public School. Entertainment for the children starts at 11 am and finishes around 4 pm with music, story telling and a bit of magic”, McColm added.
The fair will also host an array of international food stalls, including Turkish, Italian, Asian and Mexican.
Those looking for Christmas gifts need look no further, with Jewelry, hats, crafts, clothing, shoes, books and more available on the day.
As well as the fair, Glebe will recieve a colourful Mural. The mural will be painted on the south side wall of the existing building facing the park, at 106 Mitchell Street, Glebe. It will be visible from the corner of Mitchell and Glebe streets.
The Fair will run from 10 am till 7 pm with Glebe Point Road closed to traffic from Broadway to Bridge Road from 2 am until 11 pm on November 20.
