CAMP BETTY

CAMP BETTY

Looking for something a little more queenly to do this Queen’s Birthday Long Weekend? Well, look no further! Whether you’re a queen, queer, straight, gay, bisexual, transsexual, omnisexual, or anything in between, Camp Betty has your weekend sorted. A three-day festival of workshops, performances, panels and parties about the radical politics of sex and gender, Camp Betty is rolling into Sydney after a hugely successful event in Melbourne in 2007. This years event boasts zines to swap and sell, DIY workshops, picnics – pretty much everything you would expect of a fair worth its salt – all packed into lovely safe spaces around the Inner West. Although the festival aims to be decentralised to maximise its DIY ethic, most of the action will be taking place in Wick’s Park on the corner of Victoria and Sydenham Roads (or in the case of wet weather the ever-welcoming Red Rattler). So if you like your politics and parties to brush thighs in a slightly more radical way than at the royal wedding, why not head on down to Wick’s park this long weekend? Even Camilla would be welcome.

Jun 9-13, Red Rattler Theatre, 6 Faversham St, Marrickville, 9565 1044, 2010.campbetty.org
