MOVIE: THE EXPENDABLES

When The Expendables ends, chances are you’ll leave the cinema bleeding out of your eyes and ears. In part, this is because of the concussive soundwaves that have assaulted you throughout the entirety of the film – vertebrae snapping, shotgun blasting, mass demolition, and engines hitting redline. The other reason you may be feeling slightly giddy, is because of the movie’s sheer awesomeness. With a surprisingly fresh approach to kicking the action genre in the teeth, and hosting a cast of some of the biggest names within the ranks of Hollywood badass-ery, The Expendables makes every bullet count when it comes to entertainment. If there was a fault to this film (and if you were brave enough to bring it up in front of director, co-writer and lead actor Sylvester Stallone) it concerns wanting to see more from select actors in the film. But trust us, you won’t feel cheated when it comes to stunts! This is a new innovation in applied, choreographed violence. And what’s more, it’s fun! (AEB)
