Call for Tigers submissions

The redevelopment of Balmain Leagues Club has taken another step towards gaining development approval, with relevant plans and documents on public display until February 22 at Leichhardt Council Administrative Centre, Leichhardt Library and Balmain Town Hall.

This period may be used by the public to make submissions regarding the application to Leichhardt Council.

A Development Application for the project was lodged in September last year. It proposes demolition of the existing Tigers complex and construction of new club premises. Moreover, the plans incorporate three apartment towers, the tallest of which is planned to be 13 storeys high, as well as a supermarket, public plaza and nearly 600 underground parking spaces.

A pedestrian bridge across Victoria Road also forms part of the plans.

However, the project has already attracted significant opposition from residents concerned about potential overdevelopment, increased traffic and noise.

In addition to the Public consultation meetings on the proposal will be held on February 1st and 3rd at Leichhardt and Balmain Town Halls respectively. Both meetings will commence at 7pm.
