THE PROPOSAL

Sandra Bullock stars as Margaret Tate, a self-absorbed boss from hell who faces deportation to Canada. To circumvent this, she plans a sham marriage to her long-suffering assistant, Andrew Paxton (Ryan Reynolds.) The weekend is spent meeting the in-laws and getting to “know” each other. Despite originally loathing their colleague, the pair soon discovers that opposites can attract. Assisting the gorgeous leads is an excellent supporting cast (Mary Steenburgen, Craig T. Nelson and Betty White – the latter stealing the show as the feisty but adorable granny). While the controlling city gal taken out of her comfort zone is nothing new and at times feels like a no-brainer and often-predictable romantic comedy, the film is ultimately redeemed by its funny jokes and dialogue and provides a pleasant, feel good ride along the rocky road of love.
