The cat-woman of cabaret, Meow Meow, celebrates Christmas in July and the post-depression blues in Meow to the World: A Crisis is Born. For four shows only, this ‘acrobatic and virtuosic’ songstress will perform with New York’s Lance Horne on piano and Ian Graindage on cello in a show that will scratch out any “GFC-induced guilt, fear, and boredom” and replace it with a Cheshire cat grin.

After vamping it up like a kitten with a whip in Berlin, New York, Moscow, Buenos Aires and Beijing, Meow Meow will unleash her maniacal antics on the boards of the Sydney Opera House Studio as part of their Winter Wonderland series. Undeniably feisty and seductively violent in her musical execution, A Crisis is Born has the potential for audiences to run a riot and revolt against the global economic crisis through song.

July 23-26. The Studio, Sydney Opera House. $35-39, 9250 7777 or
