That Jim Conway and company had the opportunity to launch Share This Life at the Famous Spiegeltent a couple of weeks ago was fortuitous for, much like the wonderful grandeur of the 1920’s built Art Nouveau tent of mirrors, Jim Conway defies father time. Taking his pointers from big bands of a bygone era, and his musical cues from gospel, swing, Cajun, doo wop and the blues, Jim Conway has always been at musical odds with any current fads or fashions. This album, his second with Big Wheel, follows their successful ARIA nominated Little Story and finds Jim’s voice in fine fettle, along with his legendary harmonica playing. Too often these days we find the classic genres peddled as an excuse to trot out a covers album to revive a flagging career (yes I’m looking at you Human Nature, Rod Stewart and Jason Donovan). Why not taste the big band experience and swing your partner to the sounds of a true living, breathing exponent of a grand old art form’
