i am thinking of submitting the following to the Department of Foreign Affairs before it goes to print. After all a bad review of an album by the wife of French President Nicolas Sarkozy may have significant effects upon our diplomatic relationship with Europe’s most stylish country. At least Bruni shows a good sense of humour, the title referring to the fact that her romance and marriage to Sarkozy has all occurred since her last album. Indeed to hear all about it all you need is to be fluent in French as Bruni chronicles much of their romance here in smooth, Euro-folk-pop tunes. Light and breezy in tone and intimate in nature, there is nothing to offend here. Sultry in the most general of ways, Jane Birkin she is not, but then Sarkozy ain’t no Gainsbourg. This may well be the best and only album by a “First Lady” – can Michelle Obama sing’
