Le Pain Quotidien

Le Pain Quotidien

Sometimes it’s the simplest things that impress the most. A perfect toasted Ham and Cheese Croissant ($6.50) made with Gruyere cheese, and served with crisp, thin slices of cucumber and radish, and a small pot containing three mustards, won me over here. Cupping my hands around a warm bowl of well-made Caffè Latte ($4.50) was a perfect antidote to the chilly air; and their Mocha ($5.00) attested to the use of good quality chocolate. The space is bright, with a warmth and rustic charm which you’ll enjoy as you dine at the communal table, or at smaller surrounding tables. Daytime dining options include Tartines (open sandwiches), a rich Ham and Gruyere Organic Omelette ($13.50), or perhaps an Organic Egg with Hollandaise Sauce ($12) served with toast and salad, with optional Ham ($14) or Smoked Salmon ($16). There’s also a selection of bakery treats, freshly made breads, brioche, muffins, and croissants. Beyond the bakery, I was very happy to take home my own jar of the addictive Natural Black Olives ($10.90) and the Poivre Noir de la Cote de Malabar ($20), a great black pepper with grinder. Catch them for an early dinner from 6pm every Thursday, Friday and Saturday night.
