Police are appealing for help after a man was stabbed at Kings Cross last Saturday.
About 2.15am, the man aged in his 20s was involved in an altercation with another man on Bayswater Road.
During the incident he was stabbed in his upper thigh and taken to St Vincent’s Hospital for treatment to a severed artery.
A crime scene was established with Bayswater Road closed between Kellett Street and Ward Avenue.
Police are searching for a man described as having tanned complexion, 173cm tall, aged between 25 and 30, with a medium build and short hair.
He was wearing a short sleeve light-coloured t-shirt and long pants.
Anyone who witnessed the stabbing is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

A man has appeared in court charged over a shooting at Pyrmont last Thursday.
City Central detectives charged a 37-year-old man with attempted murder, malicious wounding causing grievous bodily harm, and three counts of possessing a loaded firearm.
The charges relate to an incident at an entertainment venue on Pyrmont Street about 2pm on Thursday when the man allegedly shot a 28-year-old woman a number of times.
The woman sustained gun shot wounds to her abdomen and was taken in a stable condition by ambulance to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.
Police from City Central Local Area Command attended and conducted extensive inquiries.
Officers located a man a short time later outside a building on the corner of Pyrmont Bridge Road and Pyrmont Street.
Officers also located a number of firearms which have since been seized for forensic examination.

Police numbers have been boosted with the allocation of 15 new recruits to inner-city commands.
Two hundred and seventy one new recruits took their oath of office at an attestation ceremony in Goulburn last Friday.
Kings Cross will receive a new probationary constable, while two officers will go to Newtown, five to Redfern, three to The Rocks and four to Surry Hills.
