Cirque du Soleil’s trademark blue and yellow Grand Chapiteau will be returning to Sydney’s Moore Park in July, hosting the Canadian circus company’s latest spectacular show Dralion.
The name Dralion refers to the symbol of the dragon, representing Eastern culture, and the lion, representing the West. Looking at the human quest for harmony with nature, the show pays tribute to the four elements that maintain the natural order ‘ earth, air, fire and water.
Created and directed by Guy Caron, it’s a fusion of ancient Chinese circus traditions and the avant-garde approach of Cirque du Soleil. The cast features 73 artists from 19 countries, including a house troupe of 48 Chinese performers.
Defining new heights of acrobatic creativity and set/costume design, Cirque du Soleil take audiences on extraordinary journeys through dazzling, mythical and unforgettable alternative worlds.
Never seen before here, Dralion has been performed to more than 7 million people around the world since 1999. Marking Cirque du Soleil’s fifth Australian visit, it will play for a limited season in Sydney, the first stop on the national tour. Tickets are on sale now.
